Though originally from Marquette in Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula, Florida welcomed this “Yooper” with open arms in 1979. Dr. Guelff has been serving, living and loving life in Highlands county since 1995. He is grateful for the life he, his late wife, Lori, and their three (now grown) boys, Harrison, Stephen and Taylor, were blessed to share.
Gator & Student
He received both his bachelor’s degree (1987) and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in (1992) from the University of Florida. He graduated in the top five of his dental school class, received the Pierre Fouchard Award for Outstanding Student in Periodontology and completed research for the University of Florida Department of Orthodontics.
Love of Country
Dr. Guelff completed his General Practice Residency in 1993 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Gainesville, Florida. The opportunity to serve those who have given so much for our country was a life-changing experience and a great privilege for Dr. Guelff, and he will never forget or take lightly his experience working with veterans.
Commitment to Excellence in Dentistry
Dr. Guelff worked his way through college with many jobs; from being a concrete finisher to a high school teacher, all of them built on one another to teach him the fundamentals of hard work, commitment to excellence, attention to detail and empathy.
His commitment to the people of central Florida and providing quality care to the families he serves is always at the forefront of his decisions. That is why he created The Guelff Group: a certified continuing education provider for the Florida Board of Dentistry, and has been a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association for over 30 years. He also sits on the both the board of the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs at South Florida State College. This way he can help hold the line for great care not just for those he serves but for those who are also served by others.
In addition, his groundbreaking research, Orthodontic Resident Profile (published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and presented to the American Association of Orthodontists Educational Committee) revolutionized orthodontic admissions nationwide. His work redefined the criteria and standards for selecting orthodontic residents, significantly impacting the future of the profession.
Love of Fun
When he is not making people smile brighter, you can find him watching and playing ice hockey, snowboarding, fishing, jamming out to Elvis, searching for his next pair of cowboy boots and spending time with his friends, family and of course, the best dog ever, Frankie.
